Partners in Change has been chosen by a group of local residents to act as independent advisors to the tenants and owners of the Woolaway homes in Minchinhampton.
Stroud District Council has looked at the future of the Woolaway properties in Minchinhampton. Their structural condition means that they need major repairs within the next five years. The work needed is extensive and the Council does not have enough money to repair all the Council homes. For this reason the Council drew up a series of options for the future of the properties.
This is where we came in as independent advisor.
- We made sure that you have all the necessary information to make an informed choice.
- We visited nearly every resident (tenants and owner-occupiers) to explain the options and find out your views.
- We reported on what we found and your views to Stroud Council. You can see this report by clicking the image on the left.
The Council made a decision at its Cabinet meeting on 3 October 2007 and you can see the reports to Cabinet by clicking on the image on the left and the minutes of that meeting by clicking here.
The Council decided that housing associations should be invited to submit proposals for the regeneration of the homes and that residents would be closely involved in selecting a housing association partner. Partners in Change has been supporting local residents through the process of producing a brief and shortlisting and selecting a housing association. This process has only just started. Recently members of Hampton Waves Residents Association visited an estate in the Midlands where council homes were demolished and replaced with new housing association homes.
